Attached is the September newsletter.
Just a few things to note during our first full week back:
I sent book orders home in Tuesday folders. There is a link under "favorite sites" where you can order online, and I have posted my class code there as well! Next week, 5th grade will be starting their NWEA testing. Please make sure they get plenty of rest, and are prepared for the test! Please sign up for FreshSchools - directions are on the website; monthly newsletters will be sent out via FreshSchools and on the website each month. This is usually how I contact parents! Please join the PTA. It is $10! The form was sent home in Tuesday envelopes. PTA does so much for our school :) I am so excited that we are back in school! I look forward to this year of challenges and growth with all of my kids. As we begin this year, here are a few things to note:
Please remember that this Friday is our Ice Cream Social from 5-7! I hope to see everyone there! Thank you so much for making Teacher Appreciation week so wonderful! I loved the amazing presents, and really appreciated the graduation card. I have such a great group of kids this year, and I will miss them all so much next year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
A reminder that we will be doing the SBAC test next week. Students will need headphones, so if they don't have them at school, please send them with a pair! It is very important that students are present for these tests and well-rested :)
We will also have the bike day on Friday, May 11th from 2-3. Students must have helmets if riding their bikes! Please let me know if you have any questions about these events! Just a reminder that our class will be doing the NWEA test starting on Monday, April 23rd. It's important for students to be present during this week. Some of these scores will determine placement for classes in middle school next year. Please let me know if you have any questions!
At this point we have NO PTA president(s) for next year. National/State PTA rules indicate if there is no President, there is no PTA.
Please, PLEASE consider helping out and serving as our PTA President for the 2018-2019 school year! In Math we are continuing to focus on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers.
In ELA, we will be working on idioms and comparing and contrasting different events and characters in stories. Here are a few reminders for the week: Monday: PIR day, so there is no school for students Tuesday: We are moving library to this date. Remind students to bring their books! Thursday: Ben Steele visit in the morning and then the Atomic Circus at MSUB in the afternoon. **We will be eating lunch at 11:00 on Thursday. Students are encouraged to bring a cold lunch, but hot lunch will be available.** Let's hope that we start seeing some nicer spring weather soon! We have a short week this week due to our Easter break! I hope everyone enjoys the break and the nice weather we have been getting.
