Ms. Ziegler's Class Blog

Week 1

Welcome to the first full week of school!  Here are a few updates/reminders.

Tuesday envelopes will be sent home every Tuesday.  I will also be sending home a "home folder."  The home folder will go home every day, and it will be used to hold any unfinished work, or notes that must be sent home that day.  Please ask to check your child's home folder every evening.

On the topic of homework, I tend to not assign specific work for homework in the evening.  I like to give students time in class to finish their work, and if they don't finish it in the time given, they will take it home that evening.  If a student is confused about the work, then PLEASE have them come ask me for help the next day.  The goal is to see that the students understand what they are doing, and I am always willing to help when needed.

Planners will also be sent home every day.  We will fill them out together, and the student is responsible for checking off if the work is complete.

Students will also be trying out the three different music classes the next two weeks, and then will make a decision on which class they will be joining.  It is my understanding that once they choose, they are not allowed to switch.

Please let me know if there are any questions!

    About Me.

This will be my 6th year as a teacher, and my second year in the Billings School District.

I grew up in Clancy, MT with my parents and my younger brother.  I went to The University of Montana and received my B.A. in Elementary Education.  After graduating, I spent a year in Seoul, South Korea teaching English.  Next, I moved to Chester, MT and spent two years teaching 5th and 6th grade Math and Science and one year teaching 4th grade.  I just finished my Masters in Middle School Math.

When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time outdoors.  I love hiking, running, playing tennis, or camping.  One of my favorite places to camp at is Yellowstone National Park.  I try to travel there a few times a year.
