First of all, thank you all so much for making my birthday such a fun celebration!  I loved the 30 items that the students brought in :)

This week, the learning will continue at Arrowhead.  We are still working on multiplication with decimal numbers.

In science, the students will work on building their robots, and we will have a fun challenge later on in the week!

On Thursday, the students will have a flashlight read.  They have earned this for their excellent behavior throughout the year.  Students can bring in a flashlight and a book that they want to read.  They will be able to read for 20 minutes during our ELA time!

I am looking forward to another excellent week!

I look forward to seeing everyone at conferences this week.  Please let me know ASAP if you aren't sure of your conference time.  A reminder that students will be dismissed at noon, and no lunches will be served.  Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home, as all teachers will be starting conferences after dismissal.

Also, students have been working on their first narrative.  We have had time in class, and it is due Friday.  Students know that they may work on it at home if they need more time.

On Thursday, the students will enjoy a presentation from the zoo about various animals and their habitats.
To end our exciting week, we will have the Fund Run on Friday from 2:20 - 3:00.  You will be able to pick up your child after the run in my classroom, otherwise students will be dismissed as usual.

Here is what we are focusing on this week:

Math:  We are continuing to work on place value in decimals and whole numbers.

ELA: Our focus is comparing and contrasting different parts of a story.  For example, we may focus on a character at the beginning of the story and the end, or we may compare two different characters.

Science: We are working on ecosystems, and this week we are focusing on plant parts, and the role plants have in an ecosystem.

I am looking forward to a great week of learning!

    About Me.

This will be my 6th year as a teacher, and my second year in the Billings School District.

I grew up in Clancy, MT with my parents and my younger brother.  I went to The University of Montana and received my B.A. in Elementary Education.  After graduating, I spent a year in Seoul, South Korea teaching English.  Next, I moved to Chester, MT and spent two years teaching 5th and 6th grade Math and Science and one year teaching 4th grade.  I just finished my Masters in Middle School Math.

When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time outdoors.  I love hiking, running, playing tennis, or camping.  One of my favorite places to camp at is Yellowstone National Park.  I try to travel there a few times a year.
